Each initiative was designed to foster collaboration, raise awareness, and drive meaningful change within our communities.

Turning Point for Sustainable Mobility

The Turning Point for Sustainable Mobility event, organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), was a significant gathering aimed at accelerating the transition to sustainable transport systems globally. While specific details about an event titled “The Turning Point for Sustainable Mobility” are not readily available, GIZ has been instrumental in organizing events that serve as pivotal moments for sustainable mobility discussions.

Kigali walk21

The Walk21 Kigali Conference, held from October 16–19, 2023, marked the 23rd International Walk21 Conference on Walking and Liveable Communities and was the first-ever Walk21 event hosted on the African continent. Organized by the University of Rwanda, in collaboration with the City of Kigali, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the Walk21 Foundation, the conference convened global experts, policymakers, urban planners, and advocates to advance the agenda of walkable and inclusive cities.

Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES)

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) actively participated in the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12), held from November 4–8, 2024, in Cairo, Egypt. WUF12, organized by UN-Habitat, is a premier global conference focusing on sustainable urbanization and brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including policymakers, urban planners, civil society organizations, and academics.

The Africa Urban Forum

2024
The Africa Urban Forum recently took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from September 4-6, 2024. Hosted by the African Union Commission, the forum focused on “Sustainable Urbanization for Africa’s Transformation: Agenda 2063”. The forum served as a continental platform to address the challenges and opportunities of rapid urbanization in Africa.

Pan African Action Plan for Active Mobility (PAAPAM

The Pan African Action Plan for Active Mobility (PAAPAM) is a groundbreaking initiative launched by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), UN-Habitat, and the World Health Organization (WHO) to promote walking and cycling across Africa. This comprehensive framework aims to prioritize non-motorized transport (NMT) as a means to achieve safer, healthier, and more sustainable urban environments.

The 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP) was held from March 24 to 27, 2025, in Cotonou, Benin. Organized in collaboration with Benin’s Ministry of Living Environment and Transport, the event convened over 250 participants, including transport ministers from nine African countries, senior officials, development partners, and technical experts.

My Vision

My vision is to make a positive, tangible contribution towards fair, coordinated and sustainable urban development through design, partnerships, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
